The Golden Silk Workshop Cambodia - an amazing activity since 2002

The Golden Silk Workshop Cambodia

Discover the amazing process of the local craftmanship of the Golden Silk Farm.

To escape the hustle and bustle of Siem Reap, Phoenix Voyages would like to suggest to its MICE clients a visit to the extraordinary golden silk workshop in Cambodia, a traditional craft raised to the rank of art by its rarity and long manufacturing process.

45 minutes from the center of Siem Reap, after visiting the women's temple, Bantey Srei, we recommend a stop at Golden Silk, a workshop that has been perpetuating an ancestral Khmer know-how

The Golden Silk Workshop Cambodia

The weaving of golden silk since 2002.

Gold Silk is produced by endangered silkworms that naturally make the precious and resistant yarn of the golden yellow color. This method has been used since the 13th century in traditional craftsmanship.

Your clients will visit this weaving workshop to discover the multiple stages linked to this traditional technique, which prohibits any use of chemical treatments, to obtain a 100% natural silk. Moreover, Golden Silk products are exclusively dyed with natural dyes. Why not make it a competition of the most creative person in the group and let them try their hand at the loom!

We can organize a cocktail or tea break with the local team to take time to chat and admire the fabrics.

More than 100 disadvantaged Cambodian women have been trained in this workshop to ensure a regular income. This is an amazing opportunity to support a community project, while learning more about Khmer’s rich handicrafts as well.

Fabulous Cocktail party at the Theams House Art Gallery in Siem Reap

Fabulous Cocktail party at the Theams House Art Gallery in Siem Reap

The historical and cultural center of Cambodia, Siem Reap hosts a wide range of MICE activities. This beautiful gallery is located in a traditional teak house, offering an authentic glimpse into the cultural heritage and beauty of Khmer art.

Born in Takeo, Cambodia, Lim Muy Theam was only a child when he arrived in France in 1978 among thousands of refugees fleeing Cambodia. After graduating from the prestigious Ecole Boulle and the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he returned 15 years later to help rebuild his homeland, which had been ravaged by years of war. Since then, the artist and designer Theam has continued to work for the revival of Cambodian crafts. First founding the Artisans of Angkor, he then devoted himself to a more personal project, which led him to transform his house to preserve Khmer art and crafts, provide knowledge to young apprentices, and continue his creative work. Its structures are as varied as wood and stone, ceramics, silk or bronze. The gallery of paintings also highlights the talent and technique of this great Cambodian artist.

Located in a quiet area and only a 10-minute drive from downtown Siem Reap, his residence and studio are an elegant house-museum with a peaceful tropical garden, displaying paintings and sculptures of the famous artist Theam. Both a place to live and a place to work, this beautiful home of traditional architecture houses a unique collection of arts and crafts that perfectly reflects the cultural identity of Cambodia.

Fabulous Cocktail party at the Theams House

In particular, Phoenix Voyages proposes to clients the possibility to enjoy a cocktail at the art gallery of the artist Theam.

Upon arrival, clients will encounter the serene atmosphere of this venue, where everything blends in harmony. The sculptures are already present in the garden decorated with lush plants, while the interiors boast splendid traditional Khmer motifs and mandalas on the walls and ceilings.

We propose a refined cocktail with drinks, canapés, and appetizers from both Western and traditional cuisine in this enchanting setting. The service will take place in the courtyard beautifully decorated with lotus flowers and candles, around the magnificent sacred banyan tree. The outdoor space is also perfect for setting up tables.

Guests will also enjoy a traditional Khmer band, which will escort them through the gallery, for an ideal fusion of Khmer art and music.

For an insight into the heritage and traditions of the country, a cocktail party at Theam's House Gallery is a unique cultural experience in Siem Reap, offering an authentic encounter of Khmer art in a tranquil ambiance.
