Traditional Tea Ceremony and Kimono experience in Kyoto
Immerse yourself in this beautiful traditional tea ceremony and get a taste of the fascinating culture of Japan as a skilled tea master will walk you through the delicate art of preparing tea. The tradition behind each step and the importance of the event that has been passed on for centuries will be explained to you by our tea masters at DMC Japan by Knt.
However, this is not all-put on an exquisite kimono that is made with perfect craftsmanship and relive another time.
But it’s more than just sipping tea or wearing kimonos; rather, it’s a descent into the heart and soul of Japan where an individual can connect with her traditions intimately. Situation
In Kyoto, traditional tearooms are housed within peaceful gardens, giving them suitable surroundings for holding tea ceremonies. Most of these tea houses have been built using naturally occurring materials like wood and bamboo which present wabi-sabi concept that sees beauty in simplicity and imperfections.
Procedure
The ceremony involves a sequence of highly choreographed steps:
Preparation: Tools (chawan, chasen, chashaku) are set up together with matcha by the tea master.
Purification: Each utensil is ritually cleansed to honor its use.
Serving: A matcha is vigorously mixed until frothy before being presented to visitors.
Receiving: With specific gestures and words showing gratitude, guests accept their cups of tea.
These actions imply something because they are based on nature as well as human survival conditions within nature.
Etiquette
There are some conventional rules that should be adhered to by those involved like bowing upon entering a teahouse, sitting seiza style (kneeling), giving thanks for what has been done by your guide throughout this period. To meditate properly during the ceremony silence must be maintained while one is aware of his or her consciousness.
