Qatar Airways Optimizes Summer 2025 Flights

Qatar Airways is at it again—tweaking, shifting, and fine-tuning its flight schedule like an over-caffeinated air traffic controller with a puzzle addiction. The airline has rolled out a fresh set of changes for the Northern Summer 2025 season, running from March 30 to October 25, featuring everything from extra flights to surprise aircraft swaps and the occasional "sorry, not this year" route cancellation.

More Flights, Bigger Planes, and Extra Legroom for Some

First, the good news! If you like options, Qatar Airways has plenty:

Bangkok is getting even more love, jumping from 35 to 38 flights per week between June and September. Bonus: 10 of those will be on the mighty A380, because who doesn’t love a double-decker sky mansion?

Nice (because summer on the French Riviera is, well… nice) will now have a daily flight from Doha instead of just four per week. Fancy a spontaneous Côte d'Azur escape? Now’s your chance!

Phuket holds steady at 14 weekly flights, avoiding the planned reduction. Someone in Doha must have really loved their last beach holiday.

London Gatwick gets a little aircraft glow-up—starting July 16, both daily flights will be operated by the snazzy Boeing 787-9.

Meanwhile, Frankfurt, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City are all getting frequency boosts, proving that Qatar Airways is leaning into its status as the airline equivalent of "always on the go."

Aircraft Swaps: Because Variety Is the Spice of Aviation

Some flights are getting an aircraft makeover. Highlights include:

  • Algiers gets upgraded to an Airbus A330-300. Bigger is better, right?
  • Zurich passengers may get a treat with an A350-1000 on select dates, because Swiss efficiency deserves some Qatari luxury.
  • Denpasar (Bali) will see a game of aircraft musical chairs, starting with a 787-8 before leveling up to a 777-300ER in June.
  • Isfahan flights are back (twice weekly from August 1) with a good ol’ Airbus A320. It’s not the biggest, but it gets the job done!
But Not Everyone Gets a Boost…

Now for the cuts. Some routes are getting a slight trim—because even airlines have to Marie Kondo their schedules sometimes.

Belgrade, Copenhagen, Geneva, and Osaka will see reduced flights during the season. (Sorry, Scandinavia.)

Paris and Rome are getting slight downgrades too, probably to make room for all those extra Bangkok flights. Priorities, people.

And the biggest heartbreak?

No extra flights for New York or Los Angeles this summer. Looks like Qatar Airways decided three daily JFK flights weren’t necessary after all. And that much-hyped increase to 14 weekly LAX flights? Yeah, that’s been scrapped too.

Lyon and Mersin are out altogether. We hardly knew you.
