Cathay Pacific resumes Hong Kong-Rome Route

Hold onto your travel hats, because Cathay Pacific is flying back into Rome after a 40-year hiatus—longer than some of us have been alive. Starting June 5, 2025, you can hop aboard one of their three-times-weekly flights between Hong Kong and the Eternal City, just in time for the 2025 Year of Jubilee. Divine timing, right?

And if Rome doesn’t satisfy your European wanderlust, don’t worry—Cathay is also plotting its return to Brussels later in the year. It seems 2025 is all about Cathay checking boxes on its European comeback tour!

Cathay Pacific resumes Hong Kong-Rome Route

When: Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays as nothing brings one’s week to a brilliant start than gelato in Rome - it never fails to amaze.
How: Board the impressive Airbus A350-900 which is equipped with a Business class, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins. (In other words, regardless if you are spending a fortune or a dime, a class is available for you).
Why Now? The Year of Jubilee is expected to attract priests, tourists and other onlookers from international destinations and presumably, Cathay wishes for this as well.

Rome joins Milan on Cathay’s Italian playlist, with Milan even getting daily flights this summer. Clearly, Italy has won Cathay’s heart—and can you blame them? Pasta, piazzas, and passengers galore!

Brussels (August): Waffles, chocolate, and a triumphant Cathay comeback!

Even their low-cost sibling, HK Express, is getting in on the action with flights to Sendai, Japan, already in the air as of January.

Cathay’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, summed it up perfectly: ‘We are very excited to be connected once again between Hong Kong and Rome. Well, this consolidation is not by accident- this is part of their well-thought-out strategy to have MAX 100 locations scattered all over the globe by the close of 2025 which also includes an extensive Asia-Pacific network with 19 locations on Mainland China.’
