SalamAir Launches Direct Flight Muscat to Nairobi

SalamAir Launches Direct Flight Muscat to Nairobi: The First-Ever Direct Flight from Muscat to Kenya Is Here!

SalamAir just made history! Oman’s favorite low-cost airline (and your wallet’s best friend) launched its first-ever direct flight from Muscat to Nairobi on March 17, 2025. That’s right—no more awkward layovers, just a smooth, budget-friendly ride straight to the heart of Kenya.

The inaugural flight touched down at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with a warm welcome from big names, including Kenya’s Principal Secretary of Transport, Mr. Mohamed Daghar, and Her Excellency Nasra Salim Mohamed Al Hashmi, Oman’s Ambassador to Kenya. Basically, this was the aviation equivalent of a red carpet event—minus the paparazzi but with plenty of diplomatic handshakes.

Why This Is a Big Deal (Besides the Free Cake at the Airport)
SalamAir’s CEO, Adrian Hamilton-Manns, is over the moon (or at least cruising altitude) about the launch. He described the new route as a major win for both business and leisure travelers, bringing Oman and Kenya closer together in line with Oman Vision 2040. In his words:

"Nairobi is a vibrant city with huge business potential and stunning tourism offerings. We’re thrilled to offer an affordable, convenient travel option while also opening up seamless connections from Nairobi to the GCC and the Indian subcontinent."

Translation? Kenya, get ready for more Omani tourists, and Oman, prepare for an influx of safari enthusiasts and business travelers looking to close deals over a plate of nyama choma.

Nairobi, The First of Many?
The good news doesn’t stop here—SalamAir is setting its sights on even more East African destinations. If Nairobi is just the beginning, who knows? We might see the airline zipping across the entire region soon, bringing affordable fares and that unmistakable SalamAir charm wherever it goes.

Diplomatic Cheers All Around

Both Kenyan and Omani officials seem to get along smilingly as proud parents do while their child is graduating from school. Excellency Nasra Salim Mohamed Al Hashmi contended that this new route will improve investment, tourism and trade between the two nations. Kenya’s Ambassador to Oman, His Excellency Abdi Aden Korio, cited the route as the only direct connection between Oman and Kenya. He further added that it will facilitate prompt travel for business men, government officials and tourists who are in search of adventure.

From Humble Beginnings to Global Ambitions
SalamAir, which commenced its operations in 2017, is a budget airline that has been gaining a lot of popularity. The airline has 13 Airbus A320s and operates six domestic flights in Oman. In addition, it serves 37 foreign cities in 18 different countries. This new flight to Nairobi is yet another milestone in the directors of the company who want to make the world a smaller place, both economically and geographically.

So, if you are an Omani wanting to visit the spectacular views of Kenya or a Kenyan looking to experience the marvels of Muscat, get ready to board a SalamAir flight. It’s time to pack your bags as there is clear history in the sky.
