Kenya Airways Lands at Gatwick: More UK Options, Same Kenyan Charm

Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport will start direct flights to London’s Gatwick Airport on July 02, 2025, three times every week. It’s about time that kenyan travellers got an incentive for traveling over the UK cloudy weather, so now Wednesday, Friday and Sunday can be filled with sunlight and ‘actual fun’ for them! After all, one doesn’t shy away from leaving Britain’s gloomy weather behind.

For those who are still up and living for the London Heathrow, fret not! It will not be a breakup because KQ is in fact flying to London Heathrow, which will allow a total of 10 weekly flights. It no longer will feel like you’re picking between KQ flights or delectable samosas.

Why Gatwick?

Because sometimes you need options, and Kenya Airways understands that variety is the spice of life (or at least the spice of travel). Adding Gatwick to their growing network isn’t just about convenience—it’s about giving you another way to dodge Heathrow’s infamous Terminal 5 queues.

CEO Allan Kilavuka explained, “We’re thrilled to offer our guests more ways to travel between the UK and Kenya.” Translation? Now you can pick a flight schedule that actually works with your life instead of battling for the last Heathrow slot like it’s the Hunger Games.

What’s in It for You?

Besides the obvious perks of skipping Nairobi traffic for direct flights? A lot:

  • Two UK Entry Points: Because sometimes you want Heathrow, and sometimes you just want to be closer to Brighton.
  • Convenient Flight Days: Mid-week escape? Friday night dash? Sunday chill? KQ’s got you covered.
  • Trade and Tourism Boosts: For those of you flying for business—or just to stock up on Kenyan coffee and giraffe selfies—this is big.
Strategic Moves and Big Dreams

Kenya Airways isn’t stopping here. According to Kilavuka, the UK is a huge market for trade, tourism, and connecting with the Kenyan diaspora. Gatwick is just the beginning—so don’t be surprised if your 2026 travel plans include even more direct routes to Nairobi.
